Becoming a leading international BPO takes an immeasurable amount of hard work and dedication. But no matter how busy ERC gets or how global they become, ERC employees always find time to give back and volunteer in their local communities. In this case, ERC volunteers had the privilege of helping a local elementary school tackle child hunger.

Volunteering with Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit organization that provides meals on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry, ERC employees helped packed bags of food at nearby Woodlands Elementary School in Jacksonville, Fla., on February 22. Without access to school meals on the weekends, millions of children don’t receive the nourishment they need to learn and grow. In fact, one in five children face hunger on Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to packing bags of food, ERC volunteers also got to deliver them to the classrooms, directly to the children. Watching the children’s faces light up was the highlight of the day. “Blessings in a backpack has been such an amazing experience,” said Jackie Brown, Employee Development Manager and frequent ERC volunteer.

ERC has enjoyed the experience so much, they partner with Blessings in a Backpack once a month, giving employees like Jackie Brown more opportunities to make a difference. “Being able to give back to our community is what it’s all about. Volunteering at Woodland Acres has truly been a blessing to my life.”
